Water protection through modern technology and continuously reduced consumption

The factory is in close proximity to Germany's largest artificial body of water, the ‘Bleilochtalsperre’ dam and on the edge of the natural park ‘Thüringer Schiefergebirge’. This obliges us to take care of the natural water resource.

The water required for the production process is taken from the Saale and the Selbitz rivers and is cleaned in an elaborate manner before being returned to the river.

One of the most important environmental parameters in this field is water consumption per ton of pulp. We have been able to reduce this figure continuously over the last few years. To this end, ZPR is investing heavily in new, modern plant engineering.

Compliance with strict environmental requirements is constantly monitored by the company and the authorities.
